Here is what I am trying to do:

I have some video taped games from the youth football team I coach. Each game contains somewhere between 15 to 35 minutes worth the video. I want to make a VCD with menus that each game has its own "icon" to view it.

I would also like to have a menu to allow for them to view still pages of football statistics that correspond to each game and the entire season. The statistics pages are in a MS Excel format currently.

Here are some of my questions:

Can I use the Excel format and if so how? and if I can't what would be the best way to preserve the legibility of them in another format and what would that format be?

I have VCDEasy, can I do a project like this with it or do I need other software? If I need other software I'd prefer it to be free but if it can't be gotten free I am open to maybe purchasing it.

Thanks in advance to all who help!

I hope this helps, Coach, try this guide to make menu functions for your VCDs using VCDEasy.

Also, you can capture any picture on a computer screen (your Excel stats)by pressing the Print Screen button and pasting the image to Paint, saving it, and using a freeware version of TMPGEnc and Gold Wavem to add it to a VCD as MPEG clip.

And I feel thanks should go out to you and all the other youth coaches who volunteer their time to do what you do.

Tommyknocker - Thanks for the kind words.

Any idea as to what font size I should go with in the Excel Document to make sure that it will be legible on the television screen?

When your spreadsheet is on the screen, make the font as large as you can without you stats going off the screen. The conversion to MPEG should good enough to be seen clearly on a video, Coach, especially if your skull session has a InFocus projector or a TV.

Even at 10pt font? I have a pretty in depth stat page, with lots of numbers so I order for me to see all of them at once I have the font size down to 10pt. Do you think text that small will still convert OK?

If you like, you can go ahead and convert it to an MPEG file, then burn to a CD-RW disk as a VCD, then see how it would look on your TV. If it is too small, maybe you can break up your presentations by teams (e.g., offense, defense, special teams).

To make a VCD that small should not take a very long time, and since you will be using a CD-RW, will not cost you anything.

I would recomend 16pts Arial for the text. Dont use serifs or anticva like times new romans.
