I have a small video production company and I have always used uncompressed avi files for editing.

HArdware is
Atlon Xp1700
256DDR
30Gb Quantum 5400
GF4 Leadtek Th 170 Pro my ViVo 64ddr
Creative live 5.1
I have to say that this is first time that I have such problem, I captured many files with premiere and Ulead media studio, and with aplication that came with my GF4 and I never had this problem before, just with Vegas Video, and I want to try Vegas to see if is better that Media Studio Pro 6, but I can not start because I have dropped frames with uncompressed avi at 640x480 and eho with captured sound, EVEN when I start capture, during preview of capturing I can hear the eho, and also If I am not capturing, when I just looking the footage on the capture window.
So, does anybody know what is the problem.

So you are not capturing through Firewire?? With Vegas 4 is it best to capture through Firewire only because that is what it is designed for. I used to try to capture through my ATI all in wonder card using the analog inputs and I got a very similar thing to what you are getting. Sonic Foundry never really had any answers for me except that when capturing using the Vegas Vide o Capture utility you should always use firewire. So what I did was just capture using the program that came with my All In Wonder Card, and then imported it into Vegas. I haven't tried it yet in Vegas Video 4.0b to see if they have fixed it yet or not.

It looks like Vegas Video 4 is not good at analog captures. Buy better software package that can handle such a simple task.
Pinnacle Studio 8 and DV home video editing (ver.9 already home) -
Well, since it's designed for uncompressed Firewire capture, if you use it that way it works great. I capture analog signals through my Canopus ADVC-50 all the time and it works great, it just doesn't work when you are trying to capture a straight analog signal through a Video card. IF you don't use the program for what it is designed for then of course it won't work.
That's like buying a camaro and trying to take it off road and then complaining because the piece of s&#t fell apart. If ya wanna go off road get a off road vehicle.
