Yesterday I encountered a strange problem:
I captured a DV Type 2 avi with my Hollywoodbridge from a VHS tape. The file plays fine on any Mediaplayer, but when I try to edit this avi, I get some strange results:
1. Using ulead's mediastudio:
the movie is complete black after about 30 secs and can't be converted
2. Using MaiŽnActor Videoeditor the Video is fine, but the audio is only noise, but looking at the audio-track, the waveform is ok.
Someone knows a solution to this ? This jsut happend only to 2 captures so far. Others are completly fine.

Ulead seems to have trouble with Main Actor DV files. My copy of VideoStudio 5 (non-dvd) stops showing video after 4min 41sec on every file in the preview window and in the generated files. I have had to start using VideoWave 3 which works fine. The files play normally in every other editing program I have.
One problem I have with the hollywood is that the sound is scratchy and the video is usually out of frame/sync if I try to capture directly after scanning forward or backward. If I press stop then play on the vcr then stop then pause then record on the Main Actor DV-Capture the captured files are ok even from SLP tapes. If I leave the tape playing, I can stop and restart the capturing with no problems.
