  1. I have a NEC DV5700A DVD rom drive and it has been working fine for a long time.

Recently I put in a dvd to rip (it was my big fat greek wedding) and it came up with some errors reading. I canceled it and figured I'd try again later, or with another program (I was using smart ripper)

Now I can't rip anything with that drive. DVD's that I had ripped before, and also cd's

I can't even rip an audio cd to mp3, I get error reading track message.

I can't make a disc image with something like CDRWIN - (for audio cd it says unable to analyze disc layout unable to locate end of audio track)

The drive will play cd's though, and dvd's

I can't think of Anything I have installed in the last month or so. I'm perplexed ...

    Any ideas?

  2. What program/programs are you using to rip. How old is the drive ?
    If it's wet, drink it

  3. The drive is about 3 years old.

I have tried smart ripper and vstrip for dvd rips, and easy cd extractor, music match jukebox, cdrWIn and HP record now for ripping cd's
