You're right. The program prompts you to select one of the audio streams available on the disk under the options menu. Unlike DVD2One, however, you only may select one stream. Usually I select both DD5.1 & DTS if the film isn't too long.

    Thanks

I have used dvd x copy express to record catch me if you can. Everything was fine except when I played the last 10 minutes on the dvd player it would not read, it hopped jumped and skipped. I could fast forward it to the credits and the end.

Is this a problem with the Media? I used a 4x princo blank disc.

I am contemplating changing to Mitsui 2x any suggestions . I know there is a web page with the different types of media and I have reviewed some of the comments.

  4. I downloaded the DVD Xcopy Express from the web site, because I bought the original DVD Xcopy. I got it for free as an upgrade. Installed on my XP system no problems. I even left the orginal DVD Xcopy on my system, I can run either program. I have backed up Catch Me If You Can, 2.5 hrs. on one disk. Great copy and no problems with audio or video quality. I also backed up 2001 A Space Odyssey, I was trying to force the program to copy in full screen mode because I wanted to see if DVD XPress would convert to full screen from wide. It still copied the movie in wide screen and no errors showed even though I used the full screen button. Great backup copies, no problems. I was using princo 2X, Pioneer AO4.

all lot of people love dvd xcopy express. from reading this forum it appear that dvd xcopy express only copy the main movie.

a lot of people didn't want to copy just the main movie with instant copy 7, even though that meant u usually didn't encounter any errors that way, but they seem to find it acceptable to do only the main movie with dvd xcopy express.

    that interesting....

Dont want two weeks notice but Ill try Ice Age tomorrow. By the way I use an AMD 1.8 mhz and Win 98se.

Thanks but don't get mad at me if you waste a disc.

I did a perfect backup - Movie Only - of Ice Age about a month ago with DVD Shrink. Did not experience any problems. However I cannot choose the only the movie with "Indipencece Day" I have to choose all the files and them dig out the undisirable files. If I try to choose re author I get an error.

  7. i just did my lotr fellowship of the ring(almost 3 hrs) which is about 7 gig. the sound quality is up to par (dolby surround)and the video is a tad less clear(very hard to see the difference without a practised eye) than the original as though you watched it on satellite TV. The clarity is there but just a bump down. Thats good enough for me. It just does the main movie just like using smart ripper or dvd decrypter. No audio/video sync problems. It took about 43 min to read and 37 min to burn.
My usual way is to rip(20min)-- re-encode(6-12hrs) author(30min) and burn (35 min). I still get the same movie without all the wait. id say its a great tool to use and hopefully platinum will be better.
I am going to try and remove that stupid startup screen and put in a menu system. But all in all i think its good for the novice.

  8. Anyone figure out how to get the hidden root menu out of this program?( the one with the WARNING text in it)
Im still working on it, but its a tuffy to do. Whatever they put in there seems to garble the time frame. Maybe noones interested in getting rid of that warning thing other than me. But if you are then lets discuss it.
My point of view is if I pay money for a program, I shouldnt have to look at their advertising in the beginning scene. When I use photoshop, it doesnt put a logo on every creation i make, so why should we have it here? Microsoft Word or Excell doesnt do it either. DVD shrink and just about every other dvd program doesnt have it either. So whats the deal with this one? People are going to Pirate DVD's anyways and right now you can find them and software at computer shows!!! I dont know how they get away with selling that stuff publicly. So LETS FIGURE THIS OUT

Ok, I just got DVD+Copy xpress and tried two movies - The Sixth Sense and Independence Day. Two buttons to press Step 1 and Step 2. Total of 1:30 hours on average. The results were to damn near perfect backups of the DVDs. Granted the annoying and laughable Intro/Warning is still there but who cares!! It has so far worked perfectly fitting the movie to the 4.38gb target size. Does any know which of the temp files created is that Intro and can it just be deleted from the temp folder. Since the files remain as temps till one is done, can one leave the prog on and just burn with Nero if one choses to do so? Though it has worked perfectly well by just letting the prog handle the burning part.

had a play with it this weekend

    removing the warning is simple

run the program without a Blank DVD and let it do it's thing. When it's finished just press CTRl+ALT+DEL and close the Xpress program. This will leave your Temp folder intact and accessible

open the VIDEO_TS.IFO and double click VMGM_MAT in the top window and highlight First Play PGC

slide the bar in the bottom window towards the bottom and you will see the PGC Command Table near the bottom

look for the Pre command and right click it and then choose Edit Command

In the Command: option select (Jump_TT)Jump to Title
and in the Title Nr: just select 1

click Save and overwrite the BUP

now just use any software burning program and burn away

I was gonna suggest just replacing the VIDEO_TS.VOB containing the warning with a blank but seeing as it's so small it's easier just to bypass it instead

Try backing up the movies "Ice Age" or "Two Weeks Notice" and let me know what happens. "Two Weeks Notice" would just get to 99% of the reading disc part and then the program would stop responding and this was on two computers, one with WinXP the other Win2000.

I did Ice Age just a few days ago NO PORBLEMS!!! This Progs works as Claimed and until I see different, it will my copier of choice. A 2 click process just doesn't get any easier!

It's probably an obvious answer, but I'll ask it anyway - do you mean open it in IFOEdit?

    Thanks for the pointer!

There sems to be a chronic problem with the software.
I recoreded dvd Xpress Die Hard 2 the original disc was 224 minutes

Again the same problem last 10 minutes would not play on my denon dvd player. It would play on the computer no problem. There is no means of selecting the audio track. It defaults to the default on the original disc which in this case was dolby pro logic.

The end result was I copied Die Hard 2 onto DVD X copy perfect copy on two discs,in Dolby 5.1

  16. i used dvdxcopy and it works great . dont think that dxc and xpress are frozen when they finish ripping or when finished burining i have noticed a idle time of 5-10 minutes before it starts again , don't be fooled that it is frozen and abort the process. The quality from the original and sound look as good as the original. i only have a p3 866 with 384 ram and a 2x dvd burner from LG , i have had no coasters of my backups yet .

  17. Hi there folks,

Is there anyway of supressing the attractive "DVD Copy" message at the beginning?; it's rather annoying. Many thanks.

I should of read this board first. I just installed X-Press and it copied Spiderman Great the only problem is "No Menus" and the Disclaimer Screen in the front. I tried to copy a home made DVD-R and it locks up don't know why. My burner is a Sony DRU 500AX. Did anyone tried to copy a DVD-R yet and not get the Disclaimer or is that something that only appears on Store bought Movies. That is all I need Home Movies telling me this is a back-up copy. I can look at the Bright side if 123 studios doesn't win in Court I can save this as a collector's item..YB

  19. Did either you or jmaruca read the messages in this thread you're replying to? <g> Because your answers are actually in here.

Right above your messages it gives you *excellent* and easy to use advice on how to not have 321's message appear on your backed up DVDs. This is much easier advice than the advice posted on the article here on this site (indeed, I wish the mods would cut and paste this advice into that article, as that article goes to great lengths using two programs to accomplish what MackemX does with one program and a few easy steps.

It works great -- now the only advice I want is someone to tell me (short of just replacing the VOB) how to get rid of the terrible message at the end of the first disk of a two disk backup using DVDXCopy that tells you to insert the next disk -- it's *really* annoying.

  20. i have tried 'Hannibal' and 'The Mummy returns', both worked brilliantly. Sound and picture quality is excellent (I have digital dts surround system)
It is well worth it. It doesnt keep the menus, but who cares? . You can take out the copy warning using ifoedit.

    Pootie,

You might want to buy it now. It may well not be available when you get your A05.

It's a long story and you're better off searching my other thread (you can search by my posts -- look for "Last day to buy DVDXCopy" or some such) but the bottom line is I doubt if this will be available for very much longer. I bought the full version (DVDXCopy, comes with XPress now for free) knowing this -- I don't worry about support, but I sure do worry that I wouldn't have these valuable tools at all.
