  1. Well, I am still waiting to hear from someone on the program's compression of the DTS audio and if it is noticeable or how it affects it. Anyone????

  3. I'm beginning to have some doubts on this program. Out of four backup attempts with four different DVD's two have failed. Tonight I was backing up Ice Age for my grandson to watch and the program only recorded about one tenth of the DVDR. I had to fall back on good old DVD2one to backup the movie.

Try backing up the movies "Ice Age" or "Two Weeks Notice" and let me know what happens. "Two Weeks Notice" would just get to 99% of the reading disc part and then the program would stop responding and this was on two computers, one with WinXP the other Win2000.

I have a few more DVD's I may try tonight however I hate to throw away good media.

  6. Dont want two weeks notice but Ill try Ice Age tomorrow. By the way I use an AMD 1.8 mhz and Win 98se.

Thanks but don't get mad at me if you waste a disc.

  8. Two Weeks Notice was the second back-up I made and it worked fine for me.

I have a couple of rewriteable DVDs that I always use when trying new apps like this. I would suggest everyone do the same and save themselves a lot of write-once coasters!

  10. I just did "Spirited Away" its a long movie and DVDXCopy needed two discs so I used Express and it worked great, very good picture and sound.

  11. So is this program worth it? Is the quality better that DVD2ONE?

  12. Mythspell,

Many burning software programs allow you to make a test burn to your recordable media. I always do several test burns selected at random from a stack of unbranded media to help determine their reliability on my Sony 500AX. If I get too many errors from my test samples, then I don't waste time trying hoping to get a good burn from the rest of the stack.

The program installed and did record a disc which turned out to be blank

Called 321 studios and they were having download problems I ask for the disc to be sent to me.

I have an 855 athlon windows 98 se 40 gig hard drive and memory 384

X copy works fine but cannot get the x copy express to operate.

  14. tfj, Do a reinstall and when it asks you to restart your computer dont do it, let it install the drivers and such and when its done then do a restart. Ive heard that that is a fix for some people.

Yes, I know about software test burns. However, #1, this method is nowhere near as reliable a test method as actually burning to a RW disc and confirming it works on your set-top players and #2, if you are going to spend time doing a test, why not spend it burning to a RW which as I just indicated is a better test anyway.

I have backed up many disc's without any problems at all (including ICE AGE, and Two Weeks Notice) unsing a Pioneer DVR-104 burner. I just doenloaded the new version (2.0.1) but haven't installed it yet. The picture quality is very good, but I don't see any improvement over DVD2one.

I'm stickig with DVD2one for now because I hate that damn 3-2-1 warning intro screen, and I also like the fact that using smartripper/SVD2one removes MacroVision/Region codes. I don't see that the visiual quality any better on DVDXpress as compared to DVD2one. If the video quality had a marked improvement, then I'd put up with the 3-2-1 warning intro, but quality is the same as far as I can tell on my 42" CRT TV.

I'm real interested in this program, but haven't bought it yet. If the DVD going in has 5.1 sound, can DVD X Copy Express burn the whole movie onto one disc and keep the 5.1 sound (on the DVD+R)?

... and what about "Platinum"? Anyone know of any planned features for this or even when it is expected to be released?

  18. Is anybody getting any error messages? I've tried backing up Scooby-Doo the movie and Shirek, and the error message I get is "error reading movie Title set" and "error occured reading sectors". I also tried putting Shrek in my DVD reader and try backing up to my sony DVD burner, and i get " xcopy has performed an illgel operation and will shut down. Can anyone help me?

IC7 is not slow, you just need more computers!! Come on now help out the economy, just one more, huh?. All kidding aside I feel IC7 is the best trans-coder on the market TODAY, higher quality takes more time.

Yeah that may be but I had to get my dig in. My bigest problem with Instant Copy is that they had the nerve to call it Instant.

    @Bob W
Sorry I posted on wrong thread somehow. But I still stand by my comment. Instant is some what subjective in this case. Compared to a full encode and author and vs CCE/TMPGEnc this is instant and IMHO gives me the best results. I guess they could have made a better word choice than instant perhaps Quality Copy or Easy Copy. Hell we would still find something we didn't like about those names also. I'm old school so a 2/3 hour trans-code for a long film ain't nothing to me.

everybody that came into the game late (i.e. since january, february 2003) complains about ic7 speed

they don't realize that it because of programs like ic7 that so many people are into burning dvds now

this time last year 80% of the people on this site now, wouldn't be bothered with burning dvds, as it was too complicated and with the 20 to24 hrs encoding programs , too slow

but InstantCopy is correct in a way, it just depends how you interpret it

it takes an Instant to setup IC to copy the DVD which is probably what they mean. If you had a DVD without CCS and done a direct copy it takes how many clicks?. Exactly!, not many at all is it?

cos before IC as pointed out it took longer to process it anyway, so in fact it's faster than the methods it was designed to compete with and it's that simple than even GrannyX can use it

then you get users like me who can kick it's sorry a$$ and get even more outta it 8) , but until Pinnacle sort out the sizing issue etc then it will have a smaller user base. When they do sort it I feel a lot will return to using IC

p.s. IC ain't a transcoder, so it's actually one of the fastest non-transcoders

  25. I just tried DVD XCopy Express (2.0.1) for the first time, and I was able to back up Catch Me If You Can pretty quickly. I haven't watched the whole movie yet, but it looks pretty good thus far. Sure the DVD backup message at the beginning of the DVD is annoying, but it's definitely easier than using multiple apps.

  26. I also backed up Catch Me If You Can, but it seems as if the software stripped the DTS stream leaving only 5.1 Dolby as the default. Possibly to improve picture quality? Anyone else get similar results?

  27. How is the picture quality?
Do you see any pixelated edges? Does it keep everything such as bonus materials?

As far as I know, you can only select one audio stream. If you want something other than the default (DD 5.1, I'm assuming), then under Options, select "Ask Me" for Audio Language. Then when you click on the Start button, it will prompt you to select one of the audio streams that are on the disc.

  30. I have had DXC and Xpress working fine without any coasters.

When I first tried using DXC the DVD was Ice Age. It kept saying that the film would fit onto one disc. The only problem was, that it was a while before I realised that the film was actually on disc 2. There appears to be a difference between the USA release and the British release. This may not be a good one to try on Xpress if you are not used to using it.
