  1. Hi,
My dad just recently bought about 500 divx discs from an auction that are all still sealed in the original boxes. I was trying to play these on my computer in the dvd-rom but it says that my dvd player doesnt support divx. I look on the disc but cant find any AVI files or any other media formats to play. Is there any way to "grab" the files off the disc and convert them to watch it. I am new to this divx stuff and dont really understand it, any information would help and I would appreciate it.

  2. Good luck, A friend of mine has quite a collection of these and I couldn't get them to work. You are actually looking for VOB files which aren't in the main directory. Search the disk for these VOBs and the 1+gig ones are the movie.

Yep, it is probably the old DIVX(Digital Video Exchange) format. Not the www.divx.com format(mpeg4 video compression).
