  1. hi guys

i need to export a video to dv in mono
there is more than one channel of audio
    in the premiere file

the main thing is that i need to export it to
the left channel of the tape

    is this possible?
if so, how can it be done?
if not, what can be done to workaround
i only have dubbed-original footage on dv tapes
the original footage was on s-vhs

    thanks

  3. i was making this video for a uni project
and exported it to dv in mono

but my client complained that the audio
was in the right channel, and their broadcast
needs it to be in the left channel (community tv)

we filmed it using a s-vhs camera, then dubbed it onto minidv
and captured onto pc through firewire
edited, and everything, but there's this problem of the audio

    thanks for your reply
do you have any ideas that can help?

  4. So final result is to put it on DV tape. OK. What are you using to edit DV capture ? What is your DV camcorder ?

  6. I have 2 ideas...

    1. Check settings on camcorder. On my Sony I see something like

Hi Fi SOUND : with options (STEREO, 1, 2)
Audio Mix : with slider between ST1 and ST2

I have no idea what it does, but it might be worth of looking into.

    2. Adobe Premier is very powerfull software. It should have some options to play with sound. Like exporting sound from one track and then importing it to another.... Just look around.

I may have a solution for you..i have some experience with Premeire so hopefully this will help:

Im Premeire, you have the audio track that is right beneath the video track. What you will do is to select the entire audio track, and then where you have the small Transitions box are three tabs, Transitions, Video and Audio. Click the Audio Tab and then select the arrow next to Channel. In the pull-down list you will select 'Fill Left' Click and drag that filter to the audio track in the Timeline, and all of the audio will shift to the left. When you play it back you should hear all the sound from the left speaker, or headset. From there you can easily export it back to the DV tape. Hope this helps.

    thanks for your reply

i read about that in the help section of premiere
but wasn't sure if it would work on tape
when i export it back to dv tape
do you know if all the audio will be in the left
    after exporting it to tape?

    thanks
    i'll try that

Yes, all of the audio data will be on the left audio channel when you export the info back to DV tape. You can always preview it by playing the video clip in Premeire to verify that the audio is to your satisfaction before exporting.
