Problem with Nec ND-1100A

I bought a DVD+R/+RW model Nec ND1100A (firmware v 1.A0) here, in Italy. I have installed Nero 5.5.10.20 and it recognizes the drive correctly but the max recording speed indicated by nero is 2.4x. When i record a DVD+R or a DVD+RW, 2.4x recording speed is only speed available (4x is not present), but the recorder takes only 20-25 min. for a full dvd. It means that the drive always uses 4x speed? I have tried also Pinnacle Instant Copy with a DVD+RW, and for a full copy it takes 25 min. I thinks it is a firmware problem, or not?
Where can i find a new firmware? The new version which i found in this site don’t recognizes my drive, therefore the flash utility don’t works.

I have the same burner and it will only record 4x media that is 4x certified. So far for me it burns Verbatim 4x media just fine.

Do you have upgraded the firmware?

1.A0 is the latest firmware for your burner and as Bob W writes you need 4x certified media for 4x writing.
2.4x takes about 23-24 minutes for a full DVD, 4x about 14-15 minutes.
