  1. I tried ripping a Friends DVD to VCD, and for some reason the video quality isn't as good. It's more pixelated than the DVD image is. Would that have anything to do with the option to set VCD 1.1 or VCD 2.0? I used the apps in Sefy's Backup Guide: SmartRipper, DVD2AVI, TMPGEnc and VCDEasy.....
    Anyone know what I might have done wrong?

    Look at the description of what a VCD is, on the top of the left navigation bar of this site. The only difference is that VCD 2.0 also supports PAL and have segment items, quality is exactly the same.

  3. Thanks - got it. I actually did look through it, but I'm such a dunce at this kind of thing that I was certain that I had missed something somewhere along the way.
    What do you think the problem could be, then? Anyone?

    What do you mean by "Picture isn't as good", you mean it doesn't look as good as the original DVD? Well, as you probably read (I hope you did ) the resolution of VCD is about a quarter then that of DVD...
