  1. Hi,
I just used DVD2VCD to convert an avi file to VCD.
All in it took about 7 hours to convert it using a selection of other programs as required.
Anyway, the problem I now have is knowing which files to burn to a CDR.

The conversion has changed 1 avi file into 22 other files, such as
bbMPEG_MUXED_File00.mpg, this has audio but no video
bbMPEG_MUXED_File01.mpg, clicking on this file causes an illegal operation in windows
    Encoded audio files
    Encoded video files
    AVI Synth script files
    TMPGENC MPV files

After the conversion finished DVD2VCD said that the conversion was ok and complete!!

    Help please

Mmmm, bbMPEG.... :P nasty piece of work.

My reco is that you take the separate audio and video files (make sure they match up) and multiplex them with TMPGEnc. Just go File -> MPEG Tools -> Multiplex tab, load in the appropriate video and sound file (one at a time), select your stream type (VCD MPG1 standard, if it's vanilla 1150/224 - Non-standard if other numbers, particularly if they're lower or VBR), and press Go.... voila, in about five minutes, you should have fully videoed and audioed-up MPGs that won't crash your machine.

Unless it's Media Player that's gone on the blink of course. Happens.... rare, but happens.

LOL... it's a Kitsunerisu / Fox-squirrel beanie, the little things from Nausicaa and Laputa that would make such totally cool pets (think: guinea pig sized rottweiler dog) if only we knew enough about genetic engineering and had loose enough scruples to make them (which is where they came from in the original stories... etc).

Damn thing was a collectors item when I got it on an ebay auction, imported from the states, now one of the guys who i had a friendly rivalry with in competing for it has got a job in japan and whaddyaknow, there's hundreds over there. He's making a killing selling them to hungry anifans at half the reserve price of the auction. Not 100% sure he wasn't the original auctioneer just bumping the price up, but whatever. The pic was taken when it was sitting on top of the PC monitor, but now it's a neat little ornament to sit, facing the wind (I turn the blower up for him/her) on the car dashboard Next to the reclining beanie baby monkey my grandma gave me for 20th birthday..
Heck, seeing as my car came in a "Fox" special edition variant (VW Polo) and has some ugly un-matching paint repairs up the side, I think I may get hold of some Fox transfers and duplicate the Squirrel bit up in the same font.. be just big enough to cover the patches then!
(aiming to make the most nonstandard, but unriced Polo possible. It's already an odd colour.. added fog lamps, which like 1% at most already have.. might make a half and half engine (1 litre, single point block with 1.3litre, multipoint head - the fast, economical, low insurance engine VW never made but should have) if its possible and can get the parts, add the transfers, do some other bits and pieces... bla bla bla )

If only it had been made with an opening mouth and those little pin-teeth. Suppose the manuf's were worried about what kids might do with that

Just, like the car, need a name for it. The car is going to be the slug-maus, whenever i get round to figuring out what Slug is in german. And the F.S. really can't go on being called Teto Jnr, that's just too cliche and unimaginative. Suggestions? (apart from Waste Of Good Noodle And CDR Money)

Oh and don't ask me who ever thought it was a good idea to mate Squirrels with Foxes But, whaddya know, i went looking for a better picture, and what do i find; it's a real animal in the USA, or at least the name is - just a slightly different colour variety of regular squirrel. Guess such things aren't obvious to most japanese (or english, for that matter).

Pic links (they're a bit big)... after taking a while to track down some film cels or whatever (all useless), found that website selling them cheap.. maybe not a quarter of reserve but certainly no more than 1/3 what I paid... goddamnit If you want to 'make out' what it is a bit better, here you go.

a pretty naff looking lying-down model. supposedly to sit on your shoulder?

the daddy! which also fits on your shoulder much better...
a "genuine totoro item"... erm. supposedly seen in "princess mononoke"... erm. and a comment from someone who admits it's lifesize, but prefers their "plushies" "supersized". ERM!! (scary people)

    nighty night.

  10. post your dvd2svcd log file, it sounds like you did not set things up correctly.

Go to the guides section and look for stuff on dvd2svcd (Baker's guides) and look at the pictures that he posted showing his setup. Pay particular close attention to the image tab, encoder, and the cd size one.
