I'm backing up LOTR extended edition, (you'll have noticed my posts lately), and I thought I had all the problems ironed out. I haven't; every time I think I've got it, I find another fault.
This is a basic overview of how I've got where I am at the moment:
DvdDecrypter: Decrypted "movie-only" from discs 1&2
VobEdit: checked Navigation pack in vob 6 from first disc, "Vob Id: 1", so I renamed disc 2 vobs 001-007 and "join clips" starting at Vob Id:2.
IfoEdit: First I take the newly created vobs from disc 2, rename them 7-13 and put them in the same folder as vobs 1-6. "create Ifo" with "create 1 pgc only" and "create chapter for each cell", "same folder". Upon completion I change the audio&subtitle language in both ifo's to English and save.
This is where I am. I check the file in Powerdvd and all seems fine. The problem is that the movie does not play past 2hr45 or so. When you try to use the navigator bar it seems like there is more, but it won't allow selection past 3/4. I have used DVD2one to fit it on a dvd, (the process seems to restart part way through?). the dvd had the same problem.
I have tried to do this process several times, trying to figure out why it is happening, and I just cannot find an answer.![]()
Plz help, I finally found out how to get rid of the fuzzy green subtitles, now I just need to get the full film!
Thanks lots....
------------------------------->Eventually, I had a brainwave. This problem arose at the 10th Vob, actually 3-4 minutes in, (thats why I took so long to consider the solution).
IfoEdit does not seem to like numbers higher than VTS_01_9.VOB, because I used the following method and everything seems fine.
Some of these steps may not be needed, but hey, it worked!
Take 1st dvd's vobs, (1-6), join then create ifo file. Compress files using dvd2one , (setting used 2250MB).
Do the same with 2nd dvd vobs.
The dvd2one process leaves less vob files, so that problem is sorted. Get rid of the ifo files then rename both sets of vobs in numerical order, place them in the same folder and create a new ifo file. Voila.
The only problem is that I over did it with the sizes. 4.39GB on HD, but 4,502.69MB on RECORDNOW DX! The last two Vobs are the damn credits anyway so I'm going to go through this again and crunch them into a small file, fingers crossed I'll learn to count better before then.![]()
