  1. Hey people, as always I hope someone here can help me.

My problem: I tried the VCD header trick to get better quality on my anime encodes and it works great. The issue here is the playing time: a group of episodes with 39 to 40 min is the maximum I can fit on my 700 Mb CDs!!! What´s the problem? I´ve read somewhere that a true SVCD can hold up to 60 min in this kind of CD.

    Am I missing something?

Ps.: I used the default SVCD template in TMPGEnc, with CBR 2520 and 224 kb audio, and wouldn't like to reduce the quality I'm getting.

Obs. #1 - I'm forced to use "MPEG-1 VideoCD" or else my standalone player don't accept the header trick (Panasonic RV31). I already tried the "MPEG-1 VideoCD non-standard" option and it plays choppy and becomes un-watchable :-[

Obs. #2 - I used some VBR SVCD templates, like Pinoy's and KVCD's, but the header trick doesn't work well on them. Anyone could share some experience about this too? It is strange to me that the header trick works fine on TMPGEnc default templates, but fail on these other great quality templates.

    Again, thanks for your help.

You must lower the bitrate or else it wont be any smaller. Try 192 kbits for the audio and 2-pass VBR 1600 kbits if you want 60 minutes/80 min. You can also try some kvcd tmpgenc templates, www.kvcd.net .
