  1. I have a DMR-HS2 on the way and expect to mostly use DVD-R but decided maybe I should get some DVD-RAM discs. One thing I heard is that any dvd-rom in a computer can handle them. Is that true? My idea is some items that I record on the panasonic I may want to take over to the computer and edit. I know my computer can handle dvd-r but with dvd-ram at least I know I can reuse the data after I copy over. I plan to work with it in Studio 8 on the computer before burning it to dvd on the computer. My question, I'm assuming that you can't use dvd-ram's that are in the case on the computer. Is that true? Are there dvd-ram's you can buy that aren't in a case or either can be removed? Is there a good brand to look for?

No. Most DVD-ROM drives cannot read DVD-RAM discs.

Does your DVD burner support DVD-RAM? If not, then the only way you can edit something recorded on the Panasonic machine is to record them on DVD-R discs. Even then, the only way for your DVD burner to read what's recorded on the disc is to finalize it. Of course, once you've finalized it, you can no longer edit the disc.

No. Any DVD-RAM capable DVD-ROM drive must handle all types of DVD-RAM discs.

Yes. DVD-RAM discs come in 3 flavors: cartridge type, removable cartridge and bare discs.

    Panasonic brand.
