    Some questions:
    - is there any audio in the avi (save as wav should produce a wav file with the audio - try to play this
    - does the Audio meter (VDub capture mode) show anything before capture?

  3. hi thanks for your response. I notice in the volume meter now you mention it there is no action in the oscilloscope meter, and I have tried a sample AVI (Im hoping to capture and encode a music performance btw) to save as WAV, and there is indeed no sound.

Please note that when the feed from the video is previewed in capture mode (vdub), the sound plays perfectly.

How can I solve my no sound problem in this case please?

    Let's do the basics first:
What sort of device do you capture with and how is the sound source connected to your PC?if the volume meter doesn't show anything, you're likely not capturing any sound at all.VDub can't capture from a DV device as you must know.
It just captures audio from your primarty audio-in device, look at settings, what is it?

  5. Hi thanks again 4 the quick reply

I have a mail to nail connecting my sound card and PCI based TV capture card (Pinnacle PCTV). The lead must work and be plugged into the right place on the soundcard (line in) as I can hear the sound in the preview. I have also successfully captured with sound before.

    Is this what you need?
