  1. I use TMPGenc to convert my AVI's to MPEG. It usually takes a while, is there a way to shorten that time and getting the same results?

Or is there another program out there reliable as TMPGenc, but that is faster at converting then TMPGenc?

    Any suggestions would be nice.

you can set the task priority higher in the options tab as wellas incresing the priority in your task manager to real time....when ive done that it took me like 45 minutes to encode a 2hour movie...i also find that main concept mpeg encoder encodes pretty quick and gives me better quality some times...thing is with the demo version it leaves a main concept logo at the top left of your vcd screen....... https://www.videohelp.com/panasonic.htm.....check this part of the site to see how to work main concept

  3. So higher priority makes the encodes go faster? If it does, which one do I set higher?

you can set both, its best to set the one within the program higher in order to be able to use your comp while its encoding,m cause if you set it in your task manager it has a tendency to freeze up if your comp isn't powerful enough..so task manager is better, cause its in real time, but within the program is safer

Hit Alt-Ctrl-Del. Click on Task Manager. Click Tab for Processes.
Find the process you want to increase. Right click on process after highlighted. Set Priority. Done

  7. NeoDVD is very fast however everyone seems to think TMPGenc is best for quality (I wouldn't know since I could never get it to work right for me).

no it wont mess up your comp, figuratively speaking, if anything, if your comp cant take the pressure, beleive me buddy, IT WILL FREEZE UP!!!......try it then tell me, however long the movie the most ive ever seen it encode at was 50 minutes, for a 2 hour movie...holla back

  11. lol, that was suprising. That application went to 99% CPU usage and everythign else slowed down, except TMPGenc. I can say that was faster, thanks for the suggestion. How about the environmental settings in TMPGenc, there anyway I can make it go faster by tweaking those settings in there? If so, which ones?
