Header says it all really. Just starting to play with making my own DVDs and wanted to know if there was a standard size and/or format that my menu backgrounds should be? I'll be using Ulead's DVD Movie Factory 2 to begin with.

It depends on the authoring application. I used to use MyDVD, which wanted menus to be 640x480. I now use DVD Workshop, which wants them to be 768x576.
Check your documentation. -
i use dvdit and it seems to like 640x480. just remember overscan.
Laserdiscs are cool, but laserdiscs on DVD-Rs are cooler.
