  2. I have that exact card. I bought it under the name SIIG at Fry's electronics. Mine works great for cuptureing DV. Maybe you can find drivers at the SIIG website http://www.siig.com/. Anyway the card has no encoding power or software. You need software like Ulead Video Studio or others to encode.

A FireWire card is just an interface for you to connect to your digital devices ( i.e. like a FireWire scanner and your miniDV cam ). See it like the USB port. As for drivers, I believe it can use WinXP standard drivers ( if you run WinXP ). As mentioned by DVD1234, it has got nothing to do when you encode. You capture your video via the FireWire card and encode it separately.

  4. Win XP recognized my card and already had the basic drivers. Not sure about Win 2000 and Win 98 probaly doesn't have the drivers.

I may be mistaken but I am pretty sure the driver is the same one from windows 98 thru XP. Search as you may, they don't exist...Been there , done this...LOL

  7. I use Ulead Video Studio 7 to encode from DV directly to VCD format. I can also edit the video and add effects if needed. It also has SVCD. There is other software also availible. Don't get Dazzle.
