  1. I encode using TMPENC and I just wanted to know if there was a better way to get the blockiness off of my video. I am using the block reducer feature in TMPENC and it helps a little or is it the fact that I am using vcd and not svcd (do not have the plug-ins).

I am having mass problems with the same encoder doing SVCD. In fast moving scenes you may as well look at squares bouncing up and down.

I am encoding direct fron an AVI file captured from DV

Where is the block reducing feature within TMPGEnc ??

I have been doing VBR two pass encodes and it still aint as good as encoding from Ulead Movie Factory One !!!!!!!

Thats how bad I have it !

every time i tested low vbr(1900-2500) it turned out blocky. Now i only trust cbr which is acceptable at 1900.
But i dont fiddle with so much setting because im still a newb.
