dvd with 7 episodes

i've never ripped a dvd before. my buddy has the family guy dvd box set. how do i rip all the episodes on the dvd (7 of them)? is there jus a simple tutorial on this? BTW, i wanna convert DVD to VCD

I'd start with Smart Ripper. In the next window after Smart Ripper has verified the DVD, click on File tab (left side of thew window) and select each groups of VOBs. Since VOBs are broken up in 1GB segment, you will need to make sure to select the next part or your ripped episode would be missing the ending. You should have a total of 7 groups.

From there on, I'd look up in Sefty's guide under DVD RIP section of this page. It'll tell you how to proceed after Smart Ripper.

EDIT: oh yeah, if you don't have a DVD-ROM, you won't be able to do anything at all. You'd also need several GB of free disk space, at most 9GB per DVD disk.
