I'm trying to use M2 edit pro to edit my MPEG2 captures. I use an ATI radeon with MMC 8.0 capturing PAL 352x576, 3mb birate with 48kz audio which should be okay for a dvd.
I'm capturing tv series tapes and want to split them down into individual episodes but when I generate the new mpeg with m2 edit it doubles in size from abour 550 meg an episode to 1.2 mg.
Any ideas where I'm going wrong or is this just something that can't be sorted out?

  2. Are you using VBR bit rate to capture your movies, if so M2 edit will only edit MPG 1 and 2 using Constant Bit Rate,
This is quite likely judging from the doubled file size, the only semi sucessful way that I have found to edit VBR is to use the Cutting tool facility found in TMPGEnc but it is not ideal as it doesnt cut acccurately enough, though give it a go.

    Hope this helps

I have to echo that. As expensive as M2 Edit Pro is, it does not handle VBR !!

I recommend looking at Main Actor from Mainconcept. Their is Main Actor EVE for $49 which is easy type, limited editing and the full Main Actor 5
http://mainconcept.com/mainactor_v5.shtml for $199 which is the professional editing version which also included the best encoder in the business, Main Concept Encoder.

Yeah, that was it, variable bit rate.
Thanks for the help, I'll have to use TMPEG.
