Adapted using the great TGPO guide:

    Tools needed:
    1. DiVX Doctor II - Mac Divx Convertor
    2. 3ivx Codec - Mac Divx Codec
    3. Quicktime Pro with mpeg2 export
    4. mpgtxwrap
    5. VCDTOOSX
    6. Missing Media Burner

    Step 1:
Open DiVX Doctor. Click File Add Avi. Double-click on your Divx encoded movie. Make sure Make Stand-Alone Movies is checked. Click Start. After a few min. it should create a .mov file.

    Step 2:
Open Quicktime Pro. Open your newly created mov movie. Go to FIILE then export. Choose MPEG2 export. Note the options and you can choose your desired output rate which will affect your file size. A nice 2 disk svcd you want around 1490 megs. The exported file will be a mpeg file.

    Step 3:
Split the mpeg into 2 files approximately 745 megs a piece. Open mpgtxwrap, drag your mpeg file to it. Type "2" in the frame at top lift, ensure SPLIT is clicked, and push start. Locate CHUNK-1 and CHUNK-2.

Step 4: Open VCDToolsX click on 2nd button which will say create image .bin/.cue Add your chunk-1, select a save point. Click SVCD and start. Repeat for chunk-2. Locate your .bin/.cue files.

Step5. Open Missing Media Burner, click VIDEO then add your 1st.cue file. This will be linked to your 1st .bin file. Click burn or whatever it is to start the burning. Repeat for disk 2

(im not at my mac at the moment, so the exact buttons/things you need to click may be slightly different, but you get the idea)

Maybe I should update that guide. I originally wrote that under OS 9.

i made a quick and dirty avi + subs(im sure it could support MANY other formats if i wasnt so lazy/busy) -> svcd/dvd/vcd etc.. program.. if THAT many people express interest i may decide to package it someday.. one big pain is it includes mainly unix software that i cant distribute w/o liscencing and all that stupid gpl crap.. its quite annoying
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.

  5. Hi, I found that exporting in QT took a really long time. Is there faster way of exporting?? I also tried skipping exporting and letting Toast encode but it also takes a very long time. Any suggestions?

    Thnx
