  1. Im trying to convert a divx file to a MPEG for vcd, this is the process i am going through: I open TMPGenc, open the video and audio sources (in this case i use the avi as the video, and an extracted WAV from Vdub as the audio source), then i load the VCD NTSC applet, and then i load the unlock option. I have used a bitrate calc to determine that 750KB/s is the quality i should use to fit the mpeg onto one cd, so in TPMGenc i changed the CBR to 750. Now the problem is when encoding is finished, the file size is 1.18 GB, which i found to be the size of the mpeg at the standard 1150 CBR. I have tried this several times with the same result. PLZ HELP, thnx.

I've ran into this problem before and it took me a couple days to figure it out... In the window where you set the CBR to 750, there should be a tab marked "System". Click that tab and change the setting to MPEG-1 (nonstandard). Then encode your AVI again. That should solve your problem.

Also, TMPGEnc version 2.59 has a bug that always encodes at 1150 Kb/s. If anyone has that version, get the latest update.
