So you can only write once to a dvdr? So if you have space left on the dvdr you can't add more to it later?

if you don't close it you can write more to it later, but as soon as you close it, that's it, you can't write any more to it.

Just like CD-R/RWs.
You can later to a DVD-R if you don't close it. Obviously a DVD-RW you can do about whatever you want to it.
