Star Wars, godammnit all! (yes. i know already. dont point out my wrongness.)

Miya films *will* be coming out sometime soon. It's just a matter of when.. and whether the Takahata collection / pre-nausicaa stuff will join them (Lupin, Conan, Horus anyone?)... and whether anyone will ever do a decent dub or stereo remaster of Nausicaa (leaving that so-bad-its-good synth music well alone of course).

Plus, though it's been out in France and french Canada in a slightly dodgy, possibly VHS-ripped, DVD5 (later, grudgingly, DVD9?) form for the last few years.... for the love of God won't someone release a remaster of Mysterious Cities - in english? (or even subbed, ffs, the french one didnt even have -subtitles-). The stuffs available, just for some reason, not released, while every man and his dog seem to be releasing other crappy shows that are likely to make about $10 net profit.
(there's even some dude on the internet who's done a lot of hard work, tracked down good quality sources of some of the original masters and patched together the rest with some filtering to make DVD-quality MPG2 files... if you ask him very nicely you can get pukka VCD conversions; the mpg2s themselves are a bit like the cities in the story... i'm sure for a price he'd be happy for the material to be used in well-released commercial dvds )

Thinking of that, why not just the whole DiC back catalogue... Cities, Ulysses, Gadget, etc... oh the glamour... oh the joy of watching a decent cartoon, and then getting an extra laugh at the end hearing some three year old squeaking the work "dic"...
Just so long as you get a free episode of Fantastic Max on each disc, because there's not gonna be many people who'd pay for *that*... the conversation in the pub often swings round to old kids shows and includes the mentioned triumvirate, but not FM or some other dic flops...

Oh yeah, seeing as Michael Jackson seems to have got a little better PR of late (or, more screentime in any case), will Moonwalker be on DVD at any point? I wish to freak out the next generation with it just as much as I was, except with a genuine DVD rather than a bootleg VHS from my uncle (back in, oh, 1989 was it?)
-= She sez there's ants in the carpet, dirty little monsters! =-
Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!

The must have on DVD is Star Wars, the original Trilogy. I’ll have a long wait until 2006 for this one.

Another one, "Once Upon Time in America", I noticed this title is no longer available either here in Australia or the US.

I just viewed this on Beta last week and bit old and the quality of the videotape as not good, especially the sound and having annoying promos of film previews at the beginning of the tape. I am wondering for a DVD copy of this? Maybe now banned in Australia.

Death Wish and Exterminator is no longer available here due to Australia's censorship as now banned. I may have a look to see if these are available in the US?

Yes, there are available and I'm going to order them soon.

For whoever said High Risk(its the movie with Jet Li in it right?), it is on DVD. I have seen both the original and the crappy dubbed version selling in stores.

  15. One that would be cool would be the short lived 3D version of Arachnopobia. The regular version is available but not the theater 3D version. I bet that was scary to see.

North and South (the first 2 mini-series.....3rd one stunk)

Great choice, cellardoor! Was gonna post that one myself until I read your post. Also, the Ralph Machio (sp?) version of Crossroads would be great on DVD because of its great soundtrack. The one recommendation that I haven't seen on this thread is the Steinbeck classic, "The Grapes of Wrath".

BTW, I haven't checked, but is BLADE RUNNER on DVD?

I'm sorry but the Star Wars thing is becomming a bit boring now, and the INDIANA JONES triogly is available already if you know where to look.

These films that poeple are mentioning are more there own personal favorites, that they would like to see on DVD.

Oh lets look at your selection shall we,

Comic Strip Bad News/More Bad News
    Alan Partridge - Knowing Me
    The Day Today

Talking about rubbish, man that is rubbish, come-on lets face it, Alan Partridge what load of ******* crap, same goes for Comic Strip and the less said about The Day Today the better.

I'm just wondering if you have ever actually watch any of the other users selection's before calling them obscure rubbish.

I know i have, and i know that to call them obscure rubbish is wrong because some of them are actually really good movie's and shows and should definitly be released on DVD.

But then your are intitled to your opinion, but , opinion's are like ******** everyone has one.

This was an Australian TV series many, many years ago. I enjoyed the series very much on TV once every week and in some stage twice a week.

I thought I remember "Prisoner" being repeated on TV as recent as last year or the year before. It was on around 3 o'clock in the morning or maybe later.

    Anyway, an excellent TV series.
