  1. This is a long shot, but I have a archos multimedia jukebox that I bought a year ago. I used to be able to make avi files from mpegs and view them in the jukebox. I use ffmpeg to convert the files into avi and they played perfectly. But now after a new version of ffmpeg or new versions of the jukebox firmware, my video's are always out of sync with the audio. I'm not sure if its ffmpeg or the jukebox itself that is causing the problem. But I have noticed that when using the Xvid option for converting the files (it's the only options that works with the jukebox), the status page usually shows the video at certain runtime and then the audio at a different runtime. Shouldnt both be identical in runtime?

Please help if you have any ideas.

  2. I have an Archos and I have the same problems as you but sorry, no insight into the problem yet. I have used their MPEG4 Translator..

    http://archos.com/download/firmware.html

It uses DivX and Virtual dub and is for Windows only. Archos requires a 1:1 interleave AVI for the audio and video to play in sync. There is an option to check this in Virtual Dub and it does fic the file -Archos will then pay it in sync. But I'm trying to find a way to ensure 1:1 interleave on the Mac. I can't see that option in DivX 5 or ffmpegX etc.

When I use MPEG 4 (mencoder) it won't play on my Archos. I used that because I thought it would be better for subtitles(?). The MPEG 4 (ffmpeg) encoder wouldn't even work for me at all. So finally, I used Xvid which does play on the Archos but still has audio out of synch (just like DivX 5). Yet the same file plays audio in sync on my Mac or PC. (see my other post about the Archos audio sync problem in ffmpegX forum).

Any way to use ffmpegX or something to ensure playback on the Archos would be appreciated.
