  1. how do you convert dat files to mpg using dat2mpg or is there another program that will do this?

    Or you can just right click and rename it to whatever you want .mpg.

  5. I downloaded vcdgear and it works great. converted some dat files from original vcd karaokes to mpg and used goldwave to change the pitch. now i can customize my own vcd karaoke from my collection of karaokes. thanks to you guys.

    No. You should never do this. The DAT file has a few things added to the original MPEG stream. It is questionable whether or not programs handling the MPEG would be able to work this out.

    You should use VCDGear to convert the DAT back to an ordinary MPEG. It takes no longer than copying it over to the HDD.
