  1. The picture quality is blocky and the audio is about 1-1.5 seconds behind the video... Is this a settings problem?
    Can anyone help?

  2. Forget Panasonic, forget LSX, forget Ulead. Always happened after 15 - 20 min length.
The only perfect combination is Adobe Premiere 6.0 with avisinth plugin and TMPG version 12h or 12i.
( I found the latest vers. 12j doing worse than above )

linardi, I have the same problem except my audio is about 1-1.5 seconds AHEAD of the video. Also, this isnt after encoding it, this is the on the source .avi file. Can you think of any ways to fix this? Thanks

  5. Chico, you can download free from TMPG website: http://www.tmpgenc.com and you can get all the best info from vcdhelp.com how to get avisynth ( also free download) and installation setup guide.

Also for Lethalinjecschun, it is difficult for me to give you advise since I dont know yr hw+sw. I am also amateur, I also had the same problem with you, but now I forgot how I solved this problem, but I can share my experience:

    - CPU must be PIII600 up, with at least 512 MB memory
    - Win2K will be much better than Winme, stable, and the most important thing is : NTFS file capability. Can capture more than 20 min .avi file.
    - 2 units HDD ( eg 40 GB + 60GB ) , and locate .avi file at the other unit of system file
    - locate VCD burner at primary slave if possible

I have digital camcoder , capture via 1394 using premiere6.0. If you also have premiere 6.0, pls check the setting viewer, if you did recording with 12 bit audio (44khz) and the project setting is standard 48khz,it might be the problem.
I think it will be better if we do the same setting in video rec, capture& edit setting, and export/ encoding as well. 48k - 16 bit is standard.
Hope this will solve yr problem

What are you doing and how are you using the encoder??

BTW, the Panasonic MPEG Encoder is possibly the BEST quality encoder for VCD standard MPEG-1. If there is blocking and A/V sync problems, the issue lies somewhere else.

  7. thats right vitualis! PWI cant be stopped.

people, check your source AVI, clean it up a bit. fix all your synch and smoothing before you run it thru an encoding progy, then there should be no problems.
