Hey gang,
This is my first post, i hope I can get some of you experts to give little old newbie me a hand.
I'll try to make it as detialed as possible.
I have an mpeg file I am trying to covert onto a dvd. (and i can't just do it to vcd ..i only have a PS2 as my dvd player so it's gotta be dvd format)
My specs are 396 Megs ram
Pentiun 3 500 - (yeah, i 'm working on this one)
32 meg video card
Windows 2000 Server
pioneer A05 burner
apps are:
tmpgenc
spruce up
ifoedit
also have dvdit (dazzle edition)
nero 5.xx.xxx (newest version)
First thing i did was use TMPGenc to format and encode it into an .mpg (mpeg-2) format --(which worked no problem, just took some time to do )
The image size went from 700 meg to 3.7 Gig (is this right?)
Next thing i need to do (i believe) is to author the dvd...this is where i get confused
I have Nero , can i just do it with Nero (or do I NEED to make the chapters and all of that stuff)
i figured i need to make at least chapter 1 so i tried to use Ifoedit (also tried to use Spruce up, but i will get to that next)
------
IFOEdit
The walkthrough on this board says that i first need to :
ENCODING:If you have encoded the video to one mpg/mpeg file be sure to demultiplex the mpg to a video file and audio file(s). Read here how to demultiplex. Rename the audio file to anything.mpa if it is named anything.mp2.
I did this (split it to a NEW mpg. file as well as an .mpa file.... (do i need to do this if I an using spruce up??)
Anyways, this went fine and i went on to the next step:
I opened IFO edit and clicked on Author a new DVD ( i really don't need chapters...YET, so i just added the new mpg. video file and .mpa audio file. I then made a VIDEO_TS folder an selected it as my destination. (this is where my problem comes in) The program is supposed to make a VOB and IFO file. What it does is make a VOB file (I think it is a vob file) which only takes it around a minute of so….then it just closes out the program, without making the ifo file….And that is what happens when I try to do it with IFO edit….PLEASE, somebody, can you shed some light on this subject..thanks in advance, it is greatly appreciated
Next up , I tried to us Spruce up to do it.
First thing I really need to know is if I have already put it in mpeg2 for mat via tmpgenc, do I need to demultiplex the image into a separate video-audio file sfor spruce up? I was thinking NO (thaty I didn’t need to ) so what I did was add the mpg file to spruce up (right click – add media assets )
And that was about it, the file was added to the left hand side under movie,(I don’t want to make any chapter or anything ) so I clicked on simulate…but it didn’t seem to work. Can someone give me a hand on these things
Thanks
DO i need to demux the audio (create an mpa) from the video (creat an m

No, you don't have to demultiplex.... Just do what the guide tells you... I use it all the time and never had a problem.
https://www.videohelp.com/spruceup.htm
You can also use MovieFactory 2... It's easier to use...

I'm at work right now, so I have to keep it short. If you have any problem I could help you tonight (Just PM me).
