  1. Hi,

Is het possible in virtual dub in the menu video---> compression to set mpg1 or mpg2 as compression instead of divx or the other formats, cause mpg1 or 2 isnt in the menu, how can i make it appear there?

No you can not. Virtualdub works primarily with *.avi files (capture and processing) and compresses only to DivX (mpeg-4) files.

Try and good and inexpensive encoder like TMPGEnc. You can use Virtualdub to send your *.avi files (frameserve) to TMPG to do a mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 compression. It works very well together. See the tutorials in the green panel on the left side of your screen.

    Good luck.

  3. Okey

But what file type i can best choose for best quality/least time for tmpgenc to encode to mpg?

So what file type has the best quality/ Tmpgenc to mpg time rate?

Just to clearup an inaccurate statement above:

Actually you CAN encode to mpeg 1 or 2 with VirtualDub IF you have installed DVMPEG by Darim. It includes vfw mpeg "codecs" which are viewable in the list of compressors just like divx, indeo and cinepak etc...

WHY you would actually want to that is a completely different matter when CCE, Tmpgenc or Main Concept will do it faster, better, smarter etc...

Oh geez, I did not know that you could encode to mpeg 1&2 in Virtualdub . But the question is what kind of quality are you gonna get. I would still stick with a stand-alone encoder. If quality is what you are after that is what I would do. But hey, experiment with Virtualdub add-on and see what you get, then compare to another encoder.
