Encoding puts a heavy load on a CPU , check your BIOS and see if it has a feature that 'shuts down / reboots' machine if the CPU reaches a predetermined temperature.

My Abit and my other machine an ASUS mobo both have onboard temp sensors, using these sensors and this program ->> Motherboard Monitor , you can watch your CPU temps as it encodes.

  3. thanks for the tip.. but are you sure that this is the only cause... i only encounter them on specific avi files.... plus i leave my cpu case open and even put the electric fan in front of it... plus whenever im encoding no other programs are running in the background

  4. I got similar problems using TMPGEnc to encode AVI. It's very unpredictable. Until my system totally crashed, no longer boot and I found that I had a bad memory stick, I replaced it and nothing ever crashed since then.
If you could , try a different memory stick.

Just uncheck the Reboot During Encode option in the preferences.

Update....Um, no there is no such option, it was a joke!

  6. jsnkc - is there such an option? i checked my version of tmpgenc and there is no option to reboot the pc... maybe your mistaken this for nero....

ktnwin - well that might be the case i mean the memory chip... havent thought of that.. thanks for the help.
