  1. Hey guys I need some advice. I am a young programmer seeking my first job to pay for college but have had ZERO luck at getting anywhere. I program in VB6. I was looking at rentacoder as a substitute. Have you or anyone you know tried rentacoder and have an opinion about them. I read their site and it sounds good but that is their site so of course they will put their best face forward.

  2. Rentacoder? Is it one of these temp places?

Do you have general VB6 or do you also cover DB etc? Can you handle design and interfaces.

If you can do data bases along with VB code look for jobs intailing Access DB designes since 1/3 of the triad is basic VB with a cutdown SQL and tool kit for the other parts. Check with schools { not in CA since that states is going broke } and small businesses. Would be small amounts but with enough can make some decent coins.

Also do you have enough skills to act as a tutor? That can pay also.

  3. Rentacoder works by a buyer who wants software posts the requirements for the software and how much they will pay and programmers bid for the work.

I do general VB6 as well as database work. Mostly in Access, I know SQL language, ODBC, ADO, and okay amount of HTML(mostly from exporting database tables out to HTML tables).

  4. I see!

Look around. There are usualy small companies that bough a copy of access to do something but never figure our or need helps on polishing it up to make it usefull for their needs. Small potatos but a few of these "contracts" do add up.

    Good luck.
