Hi,
How can I determine what CODECs I already have in my PC? Is there a programme that can let me determine this?
Thank you for your helpful suggestions!

I am not sure if it is the same on all pc's but in my control panel I have an icon labelled system information and codecs is a pull down tab within that.

yeah, you'll be able to find that either in the control panel as he says or on the Windows Start Menu. Look under Accessories - System Tools, and click on system information. Then expand (hit the plus sign) the components menu, then the multimedia menu, here is where you will find what audio and video codecs are installed.
(these instructions apply to XP and 2000)

gspot (located in the Tools section)...
Download it, execute it and click on
View -> Installed Codec
you have a video or audio choice
