i just bought three 15 packs of verbatim dvd-r's at best buy......i ran info on them and it is made my cmc
media code= cmc mag.....
it's really really weird because the box doesnt' say datalifeplus ,but it says datalife and on the cd's it says datalife plus. I have been ripped and i swear i will never buy another verbatim disk again....i can't trust them....i bought a pack before this that identified as taiyo yuden's..i'm fine with that ,but i paid for quality and got shit.....it makes me wonder if they are going to play the game that all these other companies play....
verbatim and best buy------you guys both fuckin suck!!

No wonder the price dropped. You should go return it. Big superstores like best buy usually have a pretty good return policy. BTW, the discs are MADE IN TAIWAN right?

Do the discs work? Seems to me that would or should be the bottom line. It's very common for items to be re-branded these days. Myself I won't be buying any more Verbatim as the last 15 which I also bought at BestBuy were un-usable in the last 400MB near the edge of the disc.

CMC is one of the worst media companies in the market. Rebranding is common, but it should be something of at least equal quality. You shouldn't take a top brand and put it on a media company that is on the bottom of the barrel. I had some CMC cdrs, yea they burned fine and all, but after a couple months the data would disappear. What good is that.

guys i'm gonna burn xmen on this piece of shiet and see if it works ok....i compared the media code to the other cmc's on this board and it's a brand new code....so maybe they will work ok....,but still the bottom line is that it is nowhere near real verbatim quality..........

Just take them back. BestBuy will refund the money or you could exchange them for another brand.

The "good" Verbatim media bear the branding "DataLife Plus" and something about "MetalAzo" which is the chemical formulation that only Verbatim made (i.e., Mitsubishi Chemicals) media use.

i burned xmen and it came out fine....it was burned to 4.35 gb....i've been reading posts saying that imation works fine....is this true?....and since the new media code says cmc mag...could that mean that these are imporved from the regular cmc dye?...since the movie plays fine burned at 2x burned on my 500ax 2.0c i'm wondering if i should even take these discs back...any ideas guys?

I'd suggest you return them. My CMC Magnetic CDRs burned fine and played fine. After about a year the data started degrading and the information started to become unreadable. I am biased again CMC for this reason though.
