  1. Can anyone educate me as to what is the difference between these two types of dvd-r blank media. I saw an add for a 50 pack of unbranded Maxell dvd-r for $95 and I've been told that Maxells are one of the most compatible medias out there for play in standalone dvd players. Does the fact that the Maxells I saw are unbranded change this somehow? Am I going to experience more problems with burning and compatiblity? Thanks in advance for any help.

  2. unbranded media are usually factory rejects (have some sort of defect) or pirated (knock-offs). In some rare occasions do the manufacture sell the good ones bulk and the reseller repacks them spindle/ cake and sells them at near the price of the branded ones with jewel case.

So if you see them at like 80 cents a piece and in the store branded they are like $2.00 a piece stay away from them!

You get what you pay for.

Two KINDS of media can be
called UNBRANDED..one is like above where you learn the unbranded
name...thus what's UNBRANDED about the product is the SURFACE of the DISC
No print or imprime on the surface.
USUALLY costs slightly more than branded

other unbranded really shouldn't be called unbrandered -should be called BRAND X

    stay away from these..
they're ok for data but they refuse to play in settop just when you want them to

so spend 02 cents more for a VERBATIM or sutch
