Hi all,
I want to buy Avermedia AverTV Studio card but I'm not sure if my system is fast enough to capture TV(from areal)/VCR into MPEG1 or 2.
here is my system:
Celeron 333
128 Meg SDRam
40 Gig HD
Do you think that I would be able to do good capture if I get this card with my system? If not, would P2 400 or P3 450 make a different?
Thanks in advance!
Ardani

Sorry but no, to all 3. Save your money and buy at least a 1ghz system or better. You can get a 2 ghz celeron and MB pretty cheap and probably use some of your old components. WDM drivers for BT8X8 work pretty well now but thanks to M$ require significantly more cpu power. Depending on your final destination (cd - dvd-r - hd - ???) you may want to check out the quality of ALL realtime mpeg encodes. I haven't seen an 'acceptable to me quality' realtime capture of anything which is less than 5 to 6 Mbps. Makes packing enough time onto a DVD-R tough and cds/svcds impossible. So in order to get acceptable quality record to huffyuv, dv or HQ mjpeg and software encode. Takes Longer, Tastes great, Less filling!
