after running avi through divx dr2 , i try to play or segment in quicktime 6 pro and the audio stops at 7min.49sec .what can i do the movie is 1 1/2hrs roughly. picture also digitizes at that same time, but only for a moment then video is fine. i want to convert to vcd for final . i am using os9.2 the original plays perfect audio and video on my kids pc (this is embarassing)ok i just try to play original source disk avi in QT on my i-mac and there is no audio at all. so the divx dr2 must have at least fixed the first 7min. when it converted to mov. but no more. I AM VERY CONFUSED

If you are running in X, download video lan (videolan.org) This is a player that will play the file using its .avi abilities, thus can play the original file with no doctoring needed. If playback here has the same problem, most likely your source has the problem to begin.

You DOWNLOADED a bad file. There is nothing you can do without a PeeCee, or possibly OS X. You can try to play with DivxTool, there is a slight chance that it can do something.

It sounds like the audio is encoded ina format that quicktime does not recognize. But it does seem strange that divx doctor would fix the begining and not the end. Form the sound of it, it does sound like it is a corrupt file, when you said that the video and audio skip...DIvx doctor may not be able to handle that. Is there anyway that you can get a new copy of the original and try the conversion of that, or is that all you have?

got a new copy, this movie plays fine on a pc (whatched the whole thing) so i am pretty sure the avi is fine , but i burned one off the a pc to double check and it plays fine on the pc. still same problems. it seems like QT doesn't recognize audio.don't know why dr2 fixes just 7 min.but if i dont use it i get no audio at all from QT . if no ideas on what to do , thanks for help any way . could avi be corrupt on mac but not on pc?

  7. I have also had this problem twice. When I encoded it to MPEG the second time, the MPEG file ended where the audio stopped in the MOV file. When I play it on my VLC player, the audio is fine. What's up with that?
