  1. I authored advd using tmpg and ifoedit and when i went to burn it in Nero 5.10.20 and when it started burning it stuck on formating media and never actually started burning the dvd. I had to reboot my system to get the dvd out of the drive. Now when I try to erase the dvd in nero it wont register the media at all. I have a Nec ND-1100A Dvd+RW driv eand am usin Maxell DVD+RW discs. This happened on my second atempt at using the drive. Any ideas on why this is happening. Are my discs FUBAR?

I'm using the same exact DVD burner (NEC 1100A) and occasionally get the same problem. It came with my Dell Dimension 8250. I get soooooo many errors and messed up disks that it's not even funny. I am not too happy with this burner unfortunately, but Dell doesn't really care. That's why I only use +RW just in case I get an error and waste a blank disk. I'm using Ritek DVD+RW disk and they work great in my standalong player, but on occasion the burner will "permanently" burn my disks and it will no longer be able to read or burn on those disk so I have to throw them out. There's been about 2 out of 14 disks so far. Does anyone else have this same problem with this DVD burner?

  3. I have that same drive on my dell. A lot of disgruntled people on the Dell forum about this.

I had a plethora of issues with this drive including:

    1) Writing to DVD+RW worked until disc was removed, then it seems to be blank.
    2) Not recogizing that I inserted any disk until I rebooted.
    3) Not being able to write to CD-RWs.
    4) Not being able to use the built-in XP drag and drop burning.

Something happend to my Windows XP and I had to re-format and re-install. After that, I had no problems whatsoever with this drive. There is some success with this at the Dell Forum.
