Help! Colors are off on DVD Playback!

Ok,

I am playing a store-bought DVD on my Apex AD-3201 DVD player. Some DVDs work find but some get really dark and red and then go back to normal and then get dark again all throughout the movie (like if you try to dub a vhs that has protection). Like I said, this only happens on some movies and not all. I have my player hoodked up to my TV/VCR combo through the regular video cable.

I thought that might be the problem.

Sucks though because my TV is a TV/VCR combo and I have the feeling that the video input goes through the VCR part. Looks like I'll probably have to get a new TV.
