This is actually on a related topic, but you all seem to know how this stuff really works, so here's my question:

Using ULead MSP6 with the DVD plug in, I pull in VCD-compliant MPEG files created with TMPGEnc, and the plug-in doesn't like them. So ... I ran them through the MPEG Repair utility, and got a little farther. But it says the bit rate is wrong. If you notice when using the built-in Ligos encoder in MSP6, the bitrate is set to 1123 when doing a VCD MPEG. Ulead claims that this results in an actual bitrate of 1500, and that 1500 is the proper rate to get their plug-in to accept the file as a VCD2.0 Whitebook file. Anyone know about this ? If so, do I set the TMPGEnc bit rate manually to 1500 ?

thanks.

PLEASE ONLY USE THIS UPDATED PATCH!

DELETE THE OLD PATCH IF YOU HAVE IT.

THIS UPDATED PATCH FIXES 1 MISTAKE THAT WAS PRESENT
IN THE LAST PATCH.

THE 1 MISTAKE WAS THAT THE LAST PATCH BURNED A
"Tracks.vcd" file when it should have been named "Tracks.svd"

HOWEVER, ANY SVCDS CREATED USING THE OLD PATCH
WITH THE MISTAKE STILL SHOULD PLAY OK ON STANDALONE
HARDWARE DVD PLAYERS THAT SUPPORT THE PHILIPS STANDARD
(AT LEAST MY TEST DISC PLAYED FINE ON MY PIONEER DV-525).

I APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE.

There is also a lot of good reading material
and information about all these complex issues
included in the zipfile: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED READING.

The credit and much thanks goes to kg99.
He located the correct .dll and patched
the mpegav to mpeg2 directory.
Thanks also go to michaelwsimmons, who
reminded me about patching the .svd to .vcd stuff,
which I latter added to the patch,
and for helping me out again when I realized
that I made that mistake concerning the Tracks.vcd...
Thanks also goes to jimllin for his help.
