When I capture and my audio is not in synch, I try putting the audio cable directly into my Line in port on my computer. Have you tried that?

You can also capture in MPEG1/MPEG2 on some cards. AVI is overkill for mere conversions of VHS (unless you plan to hardcore edit the footage).

Otherwise, be sure to close all unneeded software (TSRs like antivirus and LAN) and only capture. Be sure all settings are right.

I already try with ... Virtual DUB and the problem is my Audio is out of sync ... and in virtual dub i cant capture cuz i got WDM drivers.
Huh? So which is it? You can or cannot capture in VD? Not enough details, and confused about what little you said.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

It has taken me one month playing around with my AverDVD EZ Maker capture card to get it to capture a full screen NTSC AVI video.

I tried all the free programs you mentioned and either they wouldn't capture at more than 320x240 or the audio would be out of sync.

I finally tried iuVCR which is not free, unfortunately but it works great! If you are willing to try it, the demo is good for 30 days and then the price is $25 with free upgrades. I didn't get it to work the very first time though. I had to play with the settings like I did with the oter programs but iuVCR works great now.

If you do decide to try iuVCR and want to know what settings I use, let me know and I will check when I am at home (I'm at work right now).

I may be way off but this worked for me:
By unchecking the box 'lock video to audio' I solved my audio/video sync issues in Vdub.

  8. HEY GILDA

I already try with the Iuvcr but didnt work for me maybe are the settings like you said, so if you can help me it will help a lot. By the way, that problem with the Audio SYNC in AVI Capture could be due to a hard drive cuz right now i have a 60gb UDMA-5 but i have like 15gb free only, im thinking in get a 250gb hard drive if i can but right now im making tests only so i dont need more than 2 gigs, you think that could be the problem of the audio out of sync? thanks

  9. hi there, although I do not personally have experience capturing with iuvcr, I did used to have sync problems when capturing with VDub. I solved this problem by capturing uncompressed audio...maybe this would help in your situation? I know you mention space as an issue, but you could always capture in chunks (like between commercials), and then re-encode the audio to a more compressed format. Hope this helps.

  11. You have all probably seen this but just in case:

    http://www.digtv.ws/html/virtualvcr/sync.php

This dynamic resample option in the latest VirtualVCR fixed my audio synch blues wonderfully and is fun to watch working during capture. Good luck with your problem cause I know it is very discouraging.

If nothing works, then the problem isn't in your capturing software. IUVcr has an option to sync to audio (default) or sync to video. Try syncing to video.

I really think you have a driver issue. If your sync is a constant offset, that's easily fixable in post production, as well as in capturing. Capture drivers typically have an audio offset, it sounds like you set it by mistake and need to change it back.
