Programs like InstantCopy are aimed towards reducing the size of a DVD into fitting it on a DVDR.

In order to add an extra video sequence to an existing video file you need to have both, import them in a DVD Authoring application and link them so that the first (intro) plays and then links to the main movie.

The easiest and lowest cost authoring application I can think of is DVDLab from www.mediachance.com. Not yet released but a pre-release demo is available and it works. It will only cost $79 or so. This is a proper DVD Authoring program, in that it allows you to have control over menu links, separate tracks, etc.

Another alternative would be ULEAD DVD Workshop. It allows you to do simple authoring (which is nice since you don't get involved with useless technicalities). But it's more expensive (I've heard something like $300).

You can try and do the same (almost) work using VOBEdit and IFOEdit. They are free but very hard (at least for me) to understand.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  3. Normally the video that is played b4 the menu is the video contained within the video_ts.vob file. You could try renaming your DD trailer to video_ts and nick the video_ts.ifo and .bup from another dvd that you know plays a short video before the menu. You have to have a bit of an understanding of wot goes on within the video_ts folder but once you do you can get away with swapping files about but check b4 you burn it onto a DVD-R...

If ya like i could find such files n mail em to ya.

Or like someone said..Use DVD lab..this can do what you want coz i just tried it although interestly it doesnt actually create a video_ts.vob file, ive also got DVDwise and DVDquickbuilderw hich are rather old authoring tools..I doubt wether they are still available..but they are aesy to use and allow you to place video at the start of your DVD

DVDit! allows for firstplay (which is what you are asking for).
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  7. Well..Spruce Up can do this and in fact I just made some DVDs with the great 'Cinema' Dolby Logo at the beginning.

If you are really stuck I could mail you a copy of Spruce if ya want.

Since those are vob's you'd also want to demultiplex it in VObEdit.
