I currently have a 1.0 ghz athlon on my pc. If i were to lets say double my cpu speed would my videos process faster on tmpge? Currently it takes a little over 2 hours to process 1 cdr worth of video from divx to svcd?![]()

Yes, converting video is heavily CPU dependant. So, for the same settings, double the CPU power = 1/2 the conversion time.

Uh, sort of...
depending on the CPU, you can get away with a 2.0 ghz with 128 or 256 kb of cache giving you 1.5x faster than your current processor because of more transistors or what ever they are called and just plain old clock speed.
Now say you were to get a 1.5 ghz processor with 1 or 2 mb of cache. You may get faster results than the 2.0 ghz and you may not have to replace your motherboard but those cpu cost $$$$. Decide wh=hich is best for you.
