Editing MPGs in TMPGEnc causes audio de-synch! : (

Yeah, kinda like I said in the subject... I've been editing some TV shows I captured with ATI TV app, just cutting out commercials, using TMPGEnc, and the resulting file comes out with the audio completely de-synched from the video! It's literally off by a few seconds... I don't knwo what the problem is, and it is VERY Annoying, as my hard drive is filling up fast and I want to edit these things and get them off my disk. ; )

So my question is, how do i fix this problem? ANY help is appreciated.

I had the exact same problem, I followed all the guides and got nowhere.

In the end I found an answer on http://network54.com/Hide/Forum/70438?it=0 and got hold of a copy of Womble MPEG2VCR II, this cuts Mpeg and Mpeg2 frame accurately and if you are leaving your mpeg file in the same format it doesn't re-encode meaning on a PIII 1Ghz / AMD + it will take around 7 minutes to finish saving a 60 minute piece of edited MPEG 2.

Give http://www.womble.com a try ...

I have a 24fps MPEG2 and when I use womble to cut something out of the middle and then click "record" it saves in about 7 minutes and it is out of sync and gets much worse as the 45minute file plays. By the end it is about 6-7 seconds off. I thought this was because the 30fps was selected in the "Video" tab of the record window. Anyway, I was going to try selecting 24fps (since that is what the input file is because I performed IVTC in VDub) it acts as if it is re-encoding (it will take about 1:40:00). I have not got a chance to let it finish becaue I had to get my computer doing something else, but I am not sure what is going on here.

Hello, I have the same problem with clips not being in synch after editing.

Two suggestions. Before going out and spending 50 for womble that does only mpg1 or $250 for the mpg1 or mpg2 version I would suggest trying to find it on a warez site or from a friend. Now here's why. As I said I have the same problem and womble did not help at all, in fact the clips opened within womble was out of synch even before editing when the captured file was in synch.

Try using Ifilmedit(also try to get from a friend or warez first). This is the only editor I found that works for me, the only problem is that it is not frame accurate.

Now if either of those work for you I would strongly suggest buying them, and in my opinion that is the real reason for warez(full working version of a program for evaluation use).

By the way I don't know what you are using to capture with, I am using a ati all in wonder 128 using mmc 7.1 funny thing is that I did not have this problem when using mmc 6.3 so if this is your setup and you don't plan on doing mpg2 captures I would suggest going back to 6.3 and that may solve your problem altogether.

I capture with ATI TV Wonder. I really don't know what mmc I have. I capture with AVI using VDub, then edit and perform inverse Telecine and frameserve to TMPGEnc. I just goofed and left some footage in that needed removing. I didn't find it until after I had encoded and deleted the .AVI files. I will try to find IFilmedit. I found a warez version of 3.06 Womble MPEG2VCR. I care more about the sync than being a frame accurate cut. Using TMPEnc or MPEGTool to cut caused sync problems only after the cut/join location. Womble made the entire thing out of sync. I am going to try Womble with selecting 24fps and if that doesn't work I will see if I can get IFilmedit to work. Thanks.
