I'd like to present my "SVCDbuilder" program for DVD to SVCD convertion. With this program already were created more than 100 movies.
It has nice wizard-like interface, supports CinemaCraft and Canopus ProCoder encoders, is simple to use and gives good results. I time-to-time work on it's improvement. Just take a look:

Currently, I don't add TMPGenc support, it will be done, maybe, but not now. At first, I want to improve an existing things, fix all issues and expand program's functionality. So, I need replies, bug reports, etc...

Cecilio, I sent the Briefcase link to cs2006_87@msn.com, check it, it must work. I'll try to send the file once more to both addresses. Tomorrow I'll try to find an additional place for alternative downloads.

    @ Cecilio,

If you are still having problems, I'll try and help, but U/L'ing the file to my
webspace, and then you can D/L it when you get the chance.

    @ migor

You app seems to like to scan my system every time I run your app. This
is very time consuming. I had to wait 3 minutes for it to finally finish. I trust
you are not a crook and just sweeping away at my harddrive (but others
may not feel too happy about this) I think that one initial scan is all that is
needed, as it's not crusial to have a scan at every running. So, you should
look into saving a all those "app locations" in a text file, and just re-load
the text file w/ all these settings instead, in every runing.

The red text is difficult to see too. I had hard time reading it.

    Bugs..

    Err 1:
    * I receving the following error message when I shifted the Tune slider***
...all the way to the left. I had a video that I captured, encoded to mpeg-2
...and then I made a .D2V project. When I loaded up into SVCDbuilder,
...and (see ***) this is the error mesage..
    -------------------------------------
    Svcdbuilder2
    (x) Access violation at address 100170D7 in module "MPEG2DEC.DLL"
    Read at address FFFFFFFF.
    -------------------------------------

Err 2: Another error I get when I use the <-- and --> buttons at
    times are..
    -------------------------------------
    Svcdbuilder2
    Floating point division by zero.
    -------------------------------------

Err 3: Another error I get, that it's looking for "VSTRIP.DLL" but
can't find it, for it's chapters etc. This .DLL is not even in the Tools/Settings
list. So, you might want to add that one in (less you forgot this one)

    Comments..
    * The tool looks nice though
    * could you add "Baloon tips" to each field (when you pass you mouse over)
...describing what each field does, and why/aid/etc. Some people are dumb
...like myself at times, and a little help (hand holding) doesn't hurt.
    * As for your <-- and --> button, can you have it circular ??
...instead having to <-- out all the way to first page ??

Well, that's it for me. I only just check it out real quick, and this is what
    I noticed at the time.

Good work, and keep it up.

    Hello, vhelp!

    1. System scanning.
Application scans only c:\ProgramFiles for encoders, and subfolders of
the folder, where SVCDbuilder2.exe is, for supporting programs. So, if
you didn't place an exe in the special directory it can bring to the whole HD scanning...
The scanning is doing only when you run the program at first time when it
    doesn't find SVCDbuilder2.ini file !
    2. MPEG2DEC.DLL
The messages you get "Access violation..." and "Floating point division
by zero" probably say, that mpeg2dec.dll was not found. Currently, it must be placed in the System32 folder. The error messages of that kind must be handled by application, and I'll do it.
    3. VSTRIP.DLL
Currently, the dll must be placed in the System32 folder, or in the same
    folder as SVCDbuilder2.exe.
The message you get is not an error message, it's warning that without
vstrip.dll the chapters will not be created.
I can't include vStrip in the package, because vStrip's author doesn't permit me to do it. That's why I decided to replace the vstrip.dll with my own internal procedures, and I'm working on it.

    So, my conclusion is:
    1. Most of problems are relate to the setup process - I'll do a regular insaller for the application.
    2. All your suggestions are useful and I'll implement them. The only
moment, that isn't too clear - what's mean "circular buttons"?

Thank you very much for the real help, I hope to see your future replies .
    Best regards,
    Michael

    morning migor..

Thank for you clarifying the issues i experienced, very clearly !!

Keep up the good work, and I'll try out those suggestions you pointed out.

Your app is an interesting toy to play with. I don't really have all that
much time to play with it, cause I'm always doing busy and crazy things, and
currently, I'm about to re-encode Real World.. but i will try and find some
more time, as time goes by

    Thank you again.

    Hi !

    New update V2.1.3.7 is online:
    Added experimental AVI support.
Added experimental "Save project" option. This feature will be expanded and "Load project" function will be added.
Project file name may contain spaces now.
Encoder settings are written in the task list too.
    Few bugs fixed.

    TMPGEnc is on queue.

    Regards,
    Michael

    Hi, mgy !

Probably, you are using Link2. I found this problem too after my last program changes, it happens, when Link2 version is newer than 0.942. I've tried to get rid of the path+filename length limitation of Link2, but it's clear now, that only v.0.942 can work by that way. To solve the problem now, you can create avi files from avs with any Link2 manually (don't forget to set the proper colorspace, check, if your avi is playing in WMP and can be loaded to ProCoder) or you can use VFAPIconverter instead of Link2.
The new SB version will be released soon, it will work with any Link2 again and will have some new changes and features, e.g. :
    - Automatic creation of d2v project with DVD2AVIdg
    - Use any decoder dll of mpeg2dec.dll, mpeg2dec3.dll, mpeg2dec3dg.dll
    - Use DirectShow instead of VFW for opening AVI files, now it will be able to open AVI file of any format (codec) and do it faster, allow to set the cutpoints easy.
    - AVS file preview page, where you can select few script options (some of them using new Avisynth 2.53), edit and immediately preview avs files, as it will be seen on TV, before encoding.
    - The option for Link2 to create wrapper files without RAW audio (default), that allows to create very small avi files in very short time.
    - few little bugs fixed

  25. Tx Michael, Procoder now works fine reading avs generated by vfapi instead of link2.

Now I've another problem using CCE.
When starts keeps asking: save changes to noname? and sb stops with " all done " message displayed.

I've tried to play avs with mplayer and works fine.
    What can I do?

    Many many thanks and regards

    mgy,

    it's very strange.
The "Save to noname.." dialog appears always after the "Encode" button is clicked (encoding begins) and then the dialog is closed by SB.
Only when the encoding is finished or in the case of error SB closes CCE. In the case of CCE error SB receives this message and you can see it in the log file. How can I understand, you haven't any error message, CCE "encodes" for very short time , than SB closes it and writes "All done". SB doesn't initiate closing CCE, it's just the kind of "silent" CCE error, which seems like encoding successfully finished.
Check "Pause before encoding" button of SB and press "Start". When CCE will be started and avs file will be loaded, CCE stills in this state and doesn't begin encode ("Encode" button is not clicked). Check the frame count in the CCE window - if it's 240 - you have script error, or one of required files is missing. If everything is OK, try to encode. If you get the error message , look for other causes. Check all encoder settings.
(Remember, that CCE 2.5x can't encode video+audio on AMD machine - it will fail)
