  1. hi, when I load my .AVI into TMPGEnc, I get this error after 1 % of conversion:

    "invalid pointer operation"

Gspot tells me this about the film:

    Audio: mpeglayer3 (mp3) (0x0055) ISO/MPEG
    Video: XviD MPEG-4 Video Decoder
    Aspect: 640 x 480 (1.333 : 1)
    Bitrate: 971 kb/s
    Framereate: 29.970 FPS

how can I convert this to a VCD, 4:3 line NTSC?

I have tried to seperate the audio using Virtual Dub, but I get the same error when I load the audio and video into TMPGEnc 2.59 and begin converting. Can anyone help me?

    thank you

  2. Try using virtual dub to convert it to another format first.

  3. do you mean convert the audio? i tried extracting the audio in .WAV format using VirtDub, then loading it into TMPGEnc with the video source, but I get the error "invalid pointer operation". Is it possible the video is corrupt somehow? I'll try using a different app to convert the video to Mpeg-1. If anyone can please offer some more advice, or if LanEvo7 could give me more details........

P.S VirtDub gives me an error saying the VBR header is invalid, and that it will rewrite it......

Before you start altering the enviromental settings...(which can REALLY screw things up if you get it wrong!)...why don't you try using the FourCC trick?....I use this on ALL my Xvids without ANY problems....

Look in the Xvid folder in your program files....you should see a little application called AviC.exe Run this application and browse to your movie...you will see two fields that say "Xvid"...change BOTH of these to "DivX" and click apply. Now try encoding again...I'll be surprised if it doesn't work.
