Hi,
I've Accorp PCI capture card based on BT878 chip. The problem is that original capture settings is only 3 fixed image sizes for Pal: Full 768x576; 1/2 384x288 and 1/4 176x144. I'd like to know, how to change these defaults (in registers or dll's), because I need default size 720x576 and colorspace YUV, not 768x576, and RGB15 - it's for Ulead direct mpeg2 capture.
P.S. The card supports 720x576 an YUV colorspace - in VirtualDub I can choose "set custom format" and use these settings, but capture only in avi format![]()
P.P.S. win98SE and vfw drivers, not wdm.
Any ideas how to change this?

I don't think you can capture mpeg2 with BT8x8 chips. They are designed to capture AVIs.

He's right, I have one as well. It cannot capture MPEG-2 without godlike processor (basically it dosen't have a hardware mpeg-2 encoder onboard). Best option for most is to capture avi then convert to mpeg-2 at your leisure.

In w2k there's no problem to capture directly to mpeg2, using this bt878 chip (720x576 acceptable). Quality at 10mbit/s is good enough for making xsvcd from this file (using dvd2avi with frameserving). You don't need so much diskspace like capturing to huffyuv or mjpeg.
If you can set video to YUV not RGB, than with PIII 1GHz is enough resources - no dropped frames.
Problem is that win98 drivers don't accept 720x576
