OK, so I have a weird problem for you guys. After years of playing 30 gigs worth of mpeg, avi, wmv, asf porn collections from Kazaa and various sources, I began to have a problem with playing some MPG and AVI files recently and I think that it may have to do something with accidently deleting the Windows MPG codec and a default Windows AVI codec as well.
I recently installed an illegal version of Adobe Premiere 6.5 on my machine and had numerous problems with it. After installing/uninstalling numerous times and trying different things, I finally gave up with trying to figure out the errors. But then when I tried to play my PORN with Windows Media Player like I always have, it just exits and wont play any video! I thought the install of Premiere 6.5 might have screwed things up a bit so I reinstalled the Nimo Codec Pack 5 (build 8). That didn't fix things. I also installed the latest DivX 5.0.4!!! Now, I tried numerous other programs. Let me list them, because after installing all these none of them would play the files I have been watching for years on this Win XP machine!!!
WMP 9 (even tried to reinstall, only WMV work, abruptly exits when trying to play some MPG/AVI)
PowerDVD XP 4.0 (reinstalled, only some MPG now work, abruptly exits when trying to play some MPG/AVI)
WinDVD 4.0 (reinstalled, abruptly exits when trying to play some MPG/AVI)
SASAMI (installed, abruptly exits when trying to play some MPG/AVI)
So does anyone know whats going on here? I need to view these files!!! Actually, while I was writing this i noticed something else!!! I cant even right-click on MPG files in Windows Explorer or it will close EXPLORER.EXE only sometimes...really weird!!! This must be a Windows problem, but I can't figure it out...ANY IDEAS??? Maybe I just need to reinstall the default MPG and AVI codecs for Windows XP....PLEASE HELP!!!
