  1. I Have Just Purchased A Pioneer DVR-105 (FM1.30), After reading Just about all the help files and tutorials that are about I thought I stood a fighting chance of backing up DVD - How wrong could I be!!!

Ive been DVD-SVCD for ages so I wouldnt say I was a noob but - this is really drivng me mad.

    I hope someone can help

I have used variations of the following progs to burn a working DVD-r but with little success.

    DVDShrink / imgtool / DVD Decrypter / DVDx / Nero 5.5.10.15 / Disc Juggler / Instant copy 7

Out of 30 DVD-r writen only 2 work in my Standalone Sanyo DVD-7201

I have checked with this site and my standalone supports DVD R/W
and i have never had probs with VCD/SVCD.

I thought it could be the media, I have tried Datawrite (Princo) 1X and 4X
with no luck so I changed to ONE (Ritek) with still no joy so I bought some DVD R/W to save on coasters (I currently havnt got enough cups to the fill the coasters) and they didnt work either.

Ive tried to backup DVD5 and DVD9 to one DVD-r and everying goes fine no matter what I use but the DVD just wont work in my player - HELP ME PLEASE!!

Just a couple of points: I have tried half a dozen other princo 2X DVD-r that someone else wrote on either an A04/A05 and they work fine.

I tried loads of combinations of software and 99% worked on my pc just not on my SA unit

The very last thing i am trying is burning in Nero Using UDF 1.02 instead of 1.5.

    and if this doesnt work....

Sorry to drag it out but I need some serious help

    Thanks

Check your player. On the list of quality players, Sanyo is near the bottom. Try your discs in another player... I bet they'll work.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  3. Trying my discs on another player was another option i am going to try, i did think of it and will, but given the ibfo that on this forum my standalone get some good write ups for compatabilty and 95% of ppl play DVD R/W on their sanyo dvd 7201, plus the fact other ppls disc work on my machine - i didnt think it was my machine at fault.

Tnanks for the advice - it can only narrow the options down for me.

BTW I burned my THIRD (out of 30) DVD-r last night!!!

Using the nero UDF 1.02 option - was this just luck or is it solved?

I used DVD Decrypter to hard drive in file mode (select only movie files)
Used DVDShrink to get movie to correct size (level 1 compression)
    Burned with nero (udf 1.02)

this works but , Is there a way to burn an image file in this format, what happens if I want to author my dvd and put on a menu etc. Does having a menu mean I have to create my movie as an image file then burn?

Are there any progs that allow me to burn an image in UDF 1.02?

    thanks

I only use Nero 5.5.9.0 when I use Nero. It does fine usually, though not always. And yes, UDF 1.02.

  5. Forgive my ignorance but, to burn an image file in nero i use the DVD-ROM (ISO) or DVD-ROM(UDF/ISO) or in nero express DVD image.

am i right in thinking the default setting is UDF 1.50?

if it is, how do i burn an image in udf 1.02

    thanks
