    Every time I load an MPEG2 file, it tries to connect to the codec server, says it couldn't download the codec, but then the MPEG2 plays just fine. How can I turn off the auto-downloading option?

    I am using WMP 6.4.

    I have Norton Internet Security. I blocked WMP from all access to ports. No more DL requests.
    I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

    Open WMP, click on Tools, then Options, then the Player Tab. There is a box you can uncheck that says Download Codecs Automatically.

    That should do the trick.
